Waipu Boat & Fishing Club proudly presents the Labour Weekend Fishing Competition, featuring a $2,000 prize for the heaviest snapper!
Over $7,000 in cash and prizes to be won!
Categories: snapper, kahawai and kingfish, plus an other fish category.
Fish auction approx 4pm on Sunday 21st, with all proceeds to the Waipu Lions Club.
Tickets $50 per person or juniors are free (when their caregiver holds a ticket).

Tournament Motto
"Fish in the spirit of comradeship and goodwill, fish honestly with conservation always in mind, and most importantly. . . fish safely. The organisers remind all contestants that they are responsible for their own safety whilst on the water and ashore."
TICKETS
Tickets are available from our website www.waipuboatandfishingclub.com
Must be purchased before fishing.
HOURS
Fishing times are Saturday 20th October from 4:00 am to Sun 21st October at 4:00 pm.
FISHING AREA
Anywhere on the East Coast according to the Auckland and Kermadec Fishery Management Area.
RULES
All Waipu Boat and Fishing Club rules will apply.
Refer to the Weighmaster or Club Officials for clarification, whose decisions are final and binding on all participants.
TACKLE
Rods, hand lines, and surfcasting rods.
No more than two hooks per rod or handline.
No nets, Kon Tikis, Kites, Longlines, Explosives etc. are allowed.
WEIGH IN TIMES
Times for weigh in at the Waipu Boat and Fishing Club
Clubhouse (by Waipu River Bridge) are 8.00 pm—9:00 pm Saturday, and 2:00 pm — 4:00 pm Sunday.
'OTHER FISH' CATEGORY
Excludes Sharks, Stingrays, Eels, Barracuda.
FINAL WEIGH IN
Sunday 21rd October 2018 @ 4:00 pm.
Official time by Clubhouse clock.
No fish under contest size will be accepted
All fish weighed in become the property of the Waipu Boat and Fishing Club and will be auctioned on the Sunday immediately after the prizegiving (keep your catch in good condition and chilled – the weighmaster’s reserve the right to refuse fish they deem in poor condition).
Poor quality fish are not acceptable for weigh-in.
Weigh master's decisions are final and not negotiable.
JUNIORS SNAPPER OR KAHAWAI CATEGORY
This category is free to children under 16 years of age whose caregiver holds a ticket. Juniors are not eligible for other Category Prizes. They must either buy a ticket for Open, or else take part in the Junior section only.
PRIZEGIVING
Competitors must attend prizegiving in person, with their valid ticket, to claim drawn prizes, which will be redrawn if not claimed immediately.
MINIMUM SNAPPER SIZE & QUOTA
Minimum contest size is 30 cm.
Maximum 3 Snapper per day per angler can be weighed in.
MPI REGULATIONS
Normal MPI Regulations apply for the Auckland and Kermadec Fishery Management Area.
Please ensure you know the rules, as ignorance is not an excuse. www.fish.govt.nz
If regulations are changed after print date, the new regulations will apply.
EMERGENCY RADIO
Normal radio procedures should be followed. You should call local radio operators in your fishing area.
The Whangarei Coastguard is VHF05. Ship to Ship is Channel 18. Channels 16 & 05 are monitored for the Bream Bay area.
CANCELLATION
Cancellation due to weather or special circumstances will be announced over MORE FM on Friday, and again on Saturday where possible. Cancellations will also be on our website www.waipuboatandfishingclub.com and Facebook pages.
If weather conditions are unsafe: first reschedule will be Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd October; second reschedule will be Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October 2018. There are no refunds for cancellations.
KEEP YOUR TICKET HANDY FOR THE PRIZEGIVING & WEIGH IN Your ticket number on the other side may be drawn out in one of the lucky ticket draws — bring it with you!
PLEASE REMEMBER: ALL FISH MUST BE CHILLED AND KEPT IN GOOD CONDITION PRIOR TO WEIGH-IN.
ALL WEIGHED IN FISH WILL BE AUCTIONED AFTER PRIZE-GIVING.
